Student Entrepreneurship 2.0 is here

There has never been a better time to start or join a startup as a student in Brabant. Students have always been an important driver for innovation and new businesses. Some of the most iconic founders launched their startups during their time as a student. And even today, while many students wrestle their way through increasingly difficult curricula, more and more students want to do something with entrepreneurship. And with a student-run VC coming to Brabant this trend doesn’t seem to slow down.

Student Startup

The energy around student entrepreneurship today in Brabant is incredible. As students ourselves, we have been immersed in this community of student entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial communities such as Kickoff EHV and DutchSE, and to say the least, we are continually blown away by the things our generation of innovators are dreaming up. From cars that absorb carbon dioxide to generators that run on formic acid.

The growing number of student innovations don’t just fall out of thin air. Founders who want to start companies while still in school have an increasing number of resources to tap into that exist just for them. New initiatives like the JADS Playground in s’-Hertogenbosch, TU/e Innovation Space and The Gate in Eindhoven, and IQONIC in Tilburg inspire students to become more entrepreneurial. Students that want to learn how to build companies can apply to special tracks or even bachelor programs that allow them to gain valuable knowledge.

“Students funding students, a true formula for success.”

As of September this year, Round One will enter the field. After the successes of student-run venture capital funds in Amsterdam, Germany, Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Round One will focus on high-potential student startups in Brabant. As a bottom-up initiative by student entrepreneurs from Tilburg, Eindhoven, and ‘s-Hertogenbosch, we know how difficult it is to startup as a student. That is why Round One will help you with eye-level support, a relevant network, and the resources to fully commit to your startup.

Round One in numbers

We won’t launch empty-handed. From the very beginning, we aim to support student startups that we believe have the potential to grow into successful companies, both financially and with expertise. These are some of the things that we as Round One have to offer:

  • 5.000 Euros startup vouchers for super early-stage startups

  • Up to 75.000 euros in convertible loans, designed to keep the cap table balanced.

  • Over 40 experienced entrepreneurs and CEOs in our founder-to-founder network.

Student entrepreneurship 2.0 is here. There are more structured paths to success for students interested in starting or joining a startup. And soon, founders have even more opportunities to raise capital, get advice and meet other founders.
